The Challenges

Construction management services for the construction of a $3.4M fire station for the City of Cypress, California. The work included the demolition of the existing Fire Station No. 17 and construction of a new Fire Station No. 17. Responsibilities included construction management, contract administration, building inspection, budget control and CPM schedule review and monitoring, processing and review of submittals, RFI’s, progress payments, change order requests, meeting minutes, notices and document control. The work included the construction of an 11,000 sf, Type VB – sprinklered, timber-framed structure.
This station includes sleeping quarters, a full kitchen, dining room, entertainment area, offices and workout area. The rear of the facility includes fueling equipment, an emergency backup generator and a parking lot. This project required extensive coordination with Orange County Fire Authority, City of Cypress, SCE and WLC Architects.
