The Challenges

H.R. Gray, an Anser Advisory Company, was selected to perform inspection services for the Dugway West Interceptor Relief Sewer Project which consists of nearly 13,000 lineal feet of new sanitary sewer (various diameters) and associated flow control structures. Of that 13,000 LF, nearly 3,000 LF of sewer ranging from 24-inch diameter to 108-inch diameter was installed by open-cut methods. The other 10,000 LF of sewer ranging from 48-inch diameter to 72-inch diameter was installed by microtunneling. Temporary Support Shafts excavated to depths ranging from 10 feet to 50 feet was installed for Flow Control Structure installation, and where appropriate also serve as Jacking/Receiving Pits for the microtunneling operation. This initiative is part of Project Clean Lake, a 25-year program to reduce pollution to Lake Erie and its tributaries.
