The Challenges

With its façade of glass, brick and metal panels, this project is the new focal point for student services and dining. The new facility provides student access to a 6,100 square foot dining area with a 2,300 square foot servery supported by a full-service 2,300 square foot kitchen. Students are able to make food selections electronically from kiosks and a smart phone application, from various specialty food vendors.

In addition to dining services, the student center includes a 2,900 square foot bookstore, bookstore basement storage, a welcome center, 1,150 square feet of club rooms, 780 square foot noisy lounge for video games, 630 square foot quiet lounge, Student Affairs and Student Life Services offices, meeting rooms, and over 2,750 square feet of open seating and collaboration space that can also be used for small presentations and lectures. The Student Center also includes over 1,300 square feet of cold food storage and 1,400 square feet of bulk food storage. Heating and cooling service is provided by the campus Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant.
